Wisdom comes from experience (I would like to say age...just because of my personal situation), and 11 generations of experience would constitute much wisdom.

And there lies what I think is one of the greatest values of an honest wine: The wisdom of the winemaker based on his/her experience that shows up in the bottle.

I have had much agreement on the idea that what you taste in the bottle is a culmination of the winemaker's understanding (coming from experience) of what the vineyard is producing and what best expression the resulting wine can have.

You see, under the definition of a "good wine expresses its sense of place and time," there are not "bad" vintages.

The Wine Talks podcast with Maximillian Riedel is rife with wisdom. The kind of wisdom that can only come from generation after generation passing down stories, mistakes, successes, and thoughts is what you hear...here.
